A Valorem Director - Data & Analytics is responsible for the envisioning, development, and delivery of advanced analytics solutions by applying data engineering and data science principles and practices for Valorem’s customers. The Director - Data & Analytics will lead the creation of high-value advanced analytics solutions leveraging Valorem’s proven implementation methodology and solutions on the Microsoft technology platforms. This position also provides leadership opportunities in the areas of financial management, people management, career mentorship and new employee recruitment. This position will work collaboratively across all Valorem’s sales, service delivery and account management organizations in the service to Valorem’s customers. 

This position will represent Valorem’s approach to advanced analytics solutions and as such must demonstrate proficiency at the architecture level. This position will require an understanding of how advanced analytics are positioned to meet business objectives, how advanced analytics relates to business and enterprise architectures, and how to implement advanced analytic solutions through people, process and technology. The ideal candidate will have extensive Microsoft and Open Source technology experience implementing Big Data with Advanced Analytics solutions including data ingestion, data storage, data shaping, machine learning, predictive analytics and data visualization.

The preferred candidate will have demonstrated leadership in the field of advanced analytics, data sciences, and data analysis. The preferred candidate will also have a commitment to working across enterprises (both within Valorem and our customers), be familiar with the market challenges in multiple industry verticals, have experience with emerging technologies in advanced analytics and experience with non-Microsoft technologies.

  • General Architecture: Designing large-scale analytical systems; Being able to interpret business requirements into functional and then technical requirements; Understanding of designing workflow/process-based systems
  • Information Architecture: Data Modeling principles for relational and dimensional data structures; Data Warehouse design principles (e.g. Kimball, Inmon); Data Lake design principles; Hybrid enterprise data architecture; Taxonomies, Metadata Management and Master Data Management principles; Experience solutioning Cloud based enterprise data architectures; Data Stewardship, Ownership and Quality Management principles
  • Microsoft SQL Server Technologies: SQL Server core database engine (T-SQL code development); SQL Server Integration Services; SQL Server Analysis Services; SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Hadoop Technologies: HDFS, HBase, MapReduce, Spark, Pig, Hive, Spark-SQL
  • Microsoft Office Technologies: Excel w/ Data Mining
  • Business Engagement: Providing thought leadership and business strategy acumen around advanced analytics and business information lifecycle; Leading customers through a value-based decision making cycle; Developing functional, non-functional and technical requirements based on business imperatives; Presenting to customer executive teams with authority and purpose
  • Project Leadership: Directing business analysts and developers in the execution of project tasks; Leading consultants in various project work streams; Estimating, planning and executing advanced analytics solutions; Managing multi-site project teams 
  • Placement Criteria & Requirements

  • 15+ years of IT industry experience
  • 10+ years of consulting experience
  • 3+ years of advanced analytics development experience
  • 3+ years technical team leadership or management experience
  • Ability to travel to customer locations in US and Canada
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field
