HoloLens is a self-contained mixed reality headset device that allows users to engage with digital content and interact with holograms in the world around them. The HoloFlight app for HoloLens uses groundbreaking technology to visualize real flight data in 3D as holograms. Rene Schulte, a Microsoft MVP and Valorem’s Director of Immersive Experiences, led the team that designed the HoloFlight app.

HoloFlight allows users to walk around and explore various parts of the visualized space, simply gaze at airplanes to see detailed flight information or even hear ATC conversations with spatial sound. Different zoom levels allow users to choose whether to see broader views or the terrain or more detailed information of a specific airport, including the control tower’s point of view. The Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), with a judging body of more than 2000 members. The Academy’s Executive Members include leading Web experts, business figures, visionaries and creative celebrities. IADAS’ Associate Members are former Webby winners, nominees and other Internet professionals.
